About this service
Use this document to create an agreement for the private sale of a dog or puppy. It can be used for the sale of a new puppy from a breeder or dealer, or the sale of a puppy or a grown dog from a private owner.
It is suitable where the purchase price is received in full by a single payment, but not by instalments or where the dog is subject to a loan or charge against it. It can't be used if the dog is being sold for commercial purposes (such as for breeding or racing).
It includes confirmation by the seller of the dog's health, vaccination history and eligibility for the UK Pet Travel scheme. The buyer promises to care for the dog and to get a similar promise from any future owner.
