Maintaining equipment and first aid provision

Contents

Overview

You must keep the workplace and its related equipment, devices and systems clean, safe and in good condition. This includes ensuring that there is adequate equipment, facilities and people to provide first aid to employees

You must regularly inspect and maintain equipment and devices and record maintenance schedules. How often you carry out checks should be based on the age, condition, and frequency of use of the equipment. Guidance can also be sought from manufacturers. If you use an external expert, such as a health and safety consultant, you must ensure they are competent.

Where work involves potential physical harm, you must provide suitable personal protective equipment.
